ZÜBLIN teamconcept: partnering leads to cultural change on German construction sites

1994. Nelson Mandela is elected president of South Africa, bringing an end to the era of apartheid. The Channel Tunnel between England and France is opened to rail traffic. Brazil wins the FIFA World Cup for the fourth time. And in Hamburg, an ambitious team at STRABAG’s former building construction business unit (now part of ZÜBLIN Nord) is evolving the group’s already existing partnering model into a comprehensive concept. The goal is to promote teamwork and transparency in the construction process with a set of clear and fair rules. Through the systematic collaboration of customers, planners and contractors for the success of the project, the new concept is designed to make construction processes more efficient in the long term for the benefit of all involved while guaranteeing the reliable adherence to scheduling and budget plans. The idea eventually sets new standards: More than 25 years ago, this was the foundation for the ZÜBLIN teamconcept and the starting signal for a comprehensive cultural change on German construction sites.
