Center for Mental Health Lörrach
Location Im Entenbad in Lörrach
The large district town of Lörrach is located in the tranquil Wiesental valley at the foothills of the Black Forest .
Due to its proximity to the neighboring countries of France and Switzerland, the area around Lörrach is known as the border triangle. The new construction of the Center for Mental Health is the second of three construction phases of the Lörrach clinics.
In addition to the central clinic, which is already under construction, there is also a medical center with an underground car park on the site. The large, flat site is located in the "Im Entenbad" industrial estate near the towns of Brombach and Hauingen. Due to its proximity to the B317 federal highway, it is easily accessible by car and bus, and a train stop is planned. There will also be a shuttle bus service for train passengers.
The clinic, which is supplied entirely by local heating, is growing up next to its "big brother", the central clinic, which is being built in the same style. Unlike the Central Hospital, the ZSG is being built as a turnkey project by Ed. Züblin AG as general contractor.
The new turnkey building with a planned total of 145 beds, plus 15 day clinic places on approx. 8,760 m² of floor space spread over four floors, will use approx. 11,500 m³ of concrete. This will be produced in a mobile mixing plant, which is already on site for the central hospital contract.
The project is aiming for DGNB "Sustainable Construction Site" certification from the German Sustainable Building Council.

Certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB)
Ed. Züblin AG is pursuing several goals with this project: A sustainable construction site organization, the conservation of resources as well as the minimization of emissions, responsibility for the health and well-being of the builders, the cultivation of good neighbourliness and, of course, high-quality construction. For this, Ed. Züblin AG was the first company to be recognized by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Selected measures in the project
-
Measures to prevent pollution from the construction site
The project is located in a commercial area. The nearest residential area to the south (Hugenmattenstraße Brombach) is approx. 320m away as the crow flies and is separated by the B317 and a noise barrier. The nearest residential area to the north (Hägelbergstraße Hauingen) is approx. 570m away as the crow flies. The construction site does not cause any noise or light disturbance for the residents.

Saving resources and reducing emissions through LEAN Construction
Through the consistent use of process planning, the ongoing construction work is synchronized and adapted to the planning specifications. This enables stable and structured work. This is accompanied by an increase in quality through efficient processes. This prevents waste.
Another method is the 5S method for order and cleanliness on the construction site.

Elimination of travel routes thanks to on-site concrete mixing plant
The concrete mixing plant already in use at the central hospital will also be used at the ZSG. This means that paving times are much more precise, concreting takes place with less waste of resources and the CO2 emissions of the mixing trucks are reduced to a minimum, as there is no travel time from the plant or standing time in traffic jams.
