The building project comprises the construction of a research center and is divided into two sections: a block and halls .
The block houses offices, meeting and seminar rooms. The L-shaped halls adjoining the block serve as research laboratories and test halls.
The building sections are connected to each other on several levels. The building is characterized above all by the use of various semi- and fully prefabricated elements, which require a high degree of different connections and cognitive thinking. The halls are designed exclusively from element walls, FT columns and beams as well as Pi panels. The transom, on the other hand, consists largely of in-situ concrete walls and ceilings, but also partly of FT parapets. There are also three stairwells in the block, some of which are made of exposed concrete.
The project is aiming for DGNB "Sustainable Building Site" certification from the German Sustainable Building Council.

Certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB)
Ed. Züblin AG is pursuing several goals with this project: A sustainable construction site organisation, the conservation of resources as well as the minimisation of emissions, responsibility for the health and well-being of the builders, the cultivation of good neighbourliness and, of course, high-quality construction. For this, Ed. Züblin AG was the first company to be recognised by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Selected measures in the project
-
Prefabricated/semi-finished parts
The extensive use of prefabricated parts (filigree slabs, cavity walls, parapets, light wells, columns, beams and stairs) means that a shorter construction time can be achieved. The volume of waste is also reduced thanks to the prefabricated orders.
-
Regional construction partners
Regional companies are involved in the provision of services. For example: Waibel Beton Beton Darmstadt GmbH from Darmstadt, LIM Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH from Büttelborn, Maximuss Stromtechnik GmbH from Frankfurt.
-
Saving resources and reducing emissions
A production plan with call-off dates (e.g. finished parts) was drawn up as part of the construction site. The construction production plan is detailed on a weekly basis and adapted to the actual production progress. Changes in the construction process are constantly taken into account and just-in-time deliveries can be better implemented. Repeat orders and new orders due to late changes to the plan are avoided.
-
Measures to prevent pollution from the construction site
The project is in a commercial location, so the impact of the construction site will be avoided or reduced as far as possible. For example, by shutting down construction machinery between individual work processes.
-
Energy management in construction
Construction site investigations and comparative considerations for the most energy-efficient project execution possible. For example, selection of a large concrete bucket to reduce the number of lifts.
-
Conserving resources by reusing building materials
The reuse of timber materials (e.g. squared timber, planks, small formwork elements) from surrounding construction sites from certified sources prevents additional material consumption for formwork work and shortens transportation routes from storage to the construction site.
