Ferdinand-Happ-Strasse

Location Ferdinand-Happ-Straße, corner of Launhardtstraße in Frankfurt am Main
The new residential and commercial quarter OstStern is being built on the former Mercedes Benz site on Hanauer Landstraße in the east of Frankfurt am Main.

For ABG FRANKFURT HOLDING, the Subdivision Central with the SF2 unit is realising the Ferdinand-Happ-Straße/Launhardtstraße project in a joint venture with the Rhineland-Palatinate division. A turnkey construction of 119 rental apartments and a 4-storey daycare center in passive house standard (Frankfurt-Aktivhaus according to funding program). Based on a 1-storey underground garage with a 60 cm thick floor slab made of waterproof concrete and 57 parking spaces, 4 connected houses and a point house are being built. Due to the direct proximity to the River Main and the resulting high groundwater level, cavity walls are used in the basement. The rising storeys are being built using solid construction (in-situ concrete and masonry made from plan elements).

The number of storeys varies from 5 to 7. The façade is being given a classic ETICS. The plinth area and cantilevered cube will be clad with brick slips.

The project is aiming for DGNB "Sustainable Building Site" certification from the German Sustainable Building Council.

Certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB)

Ed. Züblin AG is pursuing several goals with this project: A sustainable construction site organisation, the conservation of resources as well as the minimisation of emissions, responsibility for the health and well-being of the builders, the cultivation of good neighbourliness and, of course, high-quality construction. For this, Ed. Züblin AG was the first company to be recognised by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Selected measures in the project

  • Finished parts

The extensive use of prefabricated parts (filigree slabs, cavity walls, parapets, columns, beams and stairs) enables a shorter construction time to be achieved. These prefabricated orders also reduce the amount of waste. The continued use of flat elements (prefabricated masonry) reduces the use of noisy stone saws to an absolute minimum. Waste cuttings/disposal is also reduced.

  • Quality assurance of building products used

The materials and construction products used and installed are tested for conformity in the course of material-ecological construction monitoring.

  • Regional construction partners

Regional companies are involved in the provision of services. For example: Beton Waibel and Bewehrung Lotter from Frankfurt. D.S. Elektro from Wiesbaden, Bauzentrum Rüppel from Gelnhausen.
