Harmelinquartier, Leipzig

Location Richard-Wagner-Str. 8 in Leipzig
Ed. Züblin AG is building the shell of two hotels directly opposite Leipzig's main railway station, which are accessed via a shared two-storey basement.

The Amano Hotel (Richard-Wagner-Straße entrance) to be built on the site of Building 1 has 274 hotel rooms. 236 hotel rooms are planned for the NYX Hotel (Brühl entrance) in the area of Building 2.

All underground components will be constructed as a solid reinforced concrete structure in accordance with the WU guideline. The rising components will be built using a combination of reinforced concrete and masonry construction and, following the historical example of the inner-city buildings, will have several inner courtyards/lightwells with glass roof structures and skylights in the ceiling area above the first floor.

The project is aiming for DGNB "Sustainable Building Site" certification from the German Sustainable Building Council.

Certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB)

Ed. Züblin AG is pursuing several goals with this project: A sustainable construction site organisation, the conservation of resources as well as the minimisation of emissions, responsibility for the health and well-being of the builders, the cultivation of good neighbourliness and, of course, high-quality construction. For this, Ed. Züblin AG was the first company to be recognised by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Selected measures in the project

  • Regional construction partners

Regional companies are involved in the provision of services. This ensures a partnership-based cooperation and synergy effects from existing project knowledge can be utilized.

  • Waste management

An effective waste management system will be set up for the project. Targeted waste sorting and separation will take place on the construction site. This ensures that the resulting construction waste is properly disposed of and/or recycled.

  • Measures to prevent pollution from the construction site

The project is located in the city center of Leipzig. As a result, the concepts for noise and dust avoidance on the construction site are key areas of action in order to reduce the noise and air pollution that occurs during construction site operations to a minimum. There is also an environmentally and resident-oriented logistics concept.

  • Construction site logistics

The just-in-time (JiT) principle ensures targeted and timely coordination of material deliveries to the construction site. The construction products are only transported to the right place at the right time and in the right quantity when they are actually needed. This reduces both the number of transports and the storage of materials on the construction site.

  • Semi-finished construction

Walls are largely built using semi-prefabricated construction methods. This saves on formwork and reinforcement work and reduces emissions from the construction site.

  • Optimized concrete delivery

To ensure the best possible coordination of concreting, call-offs are made in close consultation with the concrete plant. The delivery quantity is matched to the delivery capacity of the concrete pumps, particularly for large-scale concreting, which reduces waiting times for the concrete mixers. Production times are optimized and noise emissions reduced. Residents are informed in good time about large-scale concreting projects.

  • Quality assurance of building products used

CSC certification is being sought for the ready-mixed concrete supplied. This certification confirms the transparency of the manufacturing process and its positive material-ecological value chain.

  • Saving resources and avoiding waste by reusing building materials

The structural steel used has a high recycled content. This saves resources and avoids waste.
