LP86-91 Rostock

Location Kempowski-Ufer in Rostock
The planned port construction project will be built in Rostock's city harbor with direct access to the old town.

It borders the Unterwarnow (river) and the Kempowski-Ufer road, which also serves as an access road. The northern old town is located in the immediate vicinity.

The new construction of the Kempowski-Ufer consists of a sheet pile wall in front of it. The total length of the construction project is approx. 450 m and includes the refurbishment of a total of six berths.

The project is aiming for DGNB "Sustainable Construction Site" certification from the German Sustainable Building Council.

Selected measures in the project

  • Measures to prevent pollution from the construction site

The project is located in the city harbour and therefore in the city center of Rostock. Due to the adjacent restaurants and commercial areas, there is a great desire to reduce noise pollution. A noise barrier was erected for this purpose as part of the piling and demolition work.

  • Regional companies and suppliers

Where possible, mainly regional companies and suppliers are used in order to reduce transportation and working distances.

  • Concreting

Concreting is carried out using a concrete pump, which is continuously filled with concrete by truck mixers and ensures rapid completion of the component thanks to its high performance. Due to the short duration and high performance, the noise impact can be significantly reduced.

  • Reinforcement

Some of the reinforcement bars installed on the construction site are prefabricated in the factory, i.e. adapted to the exact installation location on the construction site in terms of length and shape. This eliminates noise emissions caused by shaping and adjusting the reinforcement.
