Matthias-Erzberger-Höfe, House 8

Christophstrasse site in 72760 Reutlingen
The "Matthias Erzberger Höfe" are a new residential quarter with eight buildings, a neighborhood garage and a daycare center being built on the site of the former building yard in Reutlingen. The aim of the project is to create modern living space in a central location and to reorganize the area in terms of urban development.

Building 8 consists of two structures with four and six full storeys respectively. It is being built using the MOLENO® Wohnen construction method, which is characterized by the combination of prefabricated cross-laminated timber exterior walls and material-efficient prestressed concrete hollow core slabs and whose high degree of prefabrication according to the principle of serial construction enables a precise and accelerated construction process as well as reduced construction site emissions.

A total of 26 residential units and two flexibly usable additional rooms with around 2,000 m² of living space are being built.

The project is aiming for DGNB "Sustainable Building Site" certification from the German Sustainable Building Council.

Certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB)

Ed. Züblin AG is pursuing several goals with this project: A sustainable construction site organization, the conservation of resources as well as the minimization of emissions, responsibility for the health and well-being of the builders, the cultivation of good neighbourliness and, of course, high-quality construction. For this, Ed. Züblin AG was the first company to be recognized by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Selected measures in the project

  • Prefabrication

The extensive use of prefabricated components (e.g. prestressed concrete hollow core slabs, cross laminated timber walls, prefabricated balconies, prefabricated wet rooms) and other prefabricated components (e.g. reinforcement) can shorten the construction time. The amount of waste on the construction site can also be reduced and emissions (e.g. noise, dust) can be outsourced to the precast plant.

  • Use of energy-efficient construction machinery

It is planned that all motorized equipment and machinery used on the construction site, e.g. earthmoving equipment, compressors, etc., with an output of over 75 kW will be documented to ensure that the most energy-efficient construction machinery possible is used.

  • Health and social affairs

The risk of accidents is reduced by the creation and application of comprehensive health and safety documents. They also help to maintain staff performance.

  • Construction site controlling

The listed measures are checked during inspections by our site management using specially designed digital checklists including photo documentation. The inspections are carried out and documented at predefined intervals by the sustainability or 5S officer of the construction site.
