New Commissary Böblingen
Panzerstraße site in Böblingen
A new supermarket with 3,500 m² of retail space and 319 new parking spaces is being built in Böblingen's Panzerstraße to replace four existing stores in the Stuttgart garrison.
The construction project is divided into three parts:
- Commissary: New construction of a single-storey supermarket with partial basement
- Parking deck: New construction of a single-storey parking deck with parking spaces above the existing parking lot
- Angled retaining walls: New construction of the angular retaining walls in the area of the parking deck, external basement staircase and staircase access to the roof and delivery area
The architecture of the Commissary is characterized by a curved roof that spans the approx. 86 x 74m functional building. To the east of the commissary, the parking deck to be built, measuring approx. 115 x 46m, is at the same level. Both components are being built using solid construction methods, rest on a shallow foundation partially laid on rock using lean concrete and include wide-span, prefabricated ceiling constructions in the form of so-called additive ceilings (composite construction).
The project is aiming for DGNB "Sustainable Building Site" certification from the German Sustainable Building Council.

Certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB)
Ed. Züblin AG is pursuing several goals with this project: A sustainable construction site organization, the conservation of resources as well as the minimization of emissions, responsibility for the health and well-being of the builders, the cultivation of good neighbourliness and, of course, high-quality construction. For this, Ed. Züblin AG was the first company to be recognized by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Selected measures in the project
-
Finished parts
The extensive use of prefabricated parts (e.g. prefabricated columns, additive ceilings) means that a shorter construction time can be achieved. The volume of waste is also reduced thanks to the prefabricated orders.
-
Digital concrete call-off
In order to be able to coordinate the concreting in the best possible way, the call-offs are made using a digital application. Particularly in the case of large-scale concreting, the delivery quantities can be coordinated with the concrete pump, thus reducing the waiting times of the concrete mixers. Production times are optimized and noise emissions are reduced.
-
Saving resources and reducing emissions through LEAN Construction
As part of the lean approach, a production plan with call-off dates was drawn up. Construction production planning is detailed on a weekly basis and adapted to actual production progress. Changes in the construction process are taken into account on an ongoing basis so that just-in-time deliveries can be better implemented. This avoids repeat and new orders due to late changes to the plan.
-
Use of energy-efficient construction machinery
It is planned that all motorized equipment and machinery used on the construction site, e.g. earthmoving equipment, compressors, etc., with an output of over 75 kW will be documented to ensure that the most energy-efficient construction machinery possible is used.
-
Regional companies and suppliers
Where possible, mainly regional companies and suppliers are used in order to reduce transportation and working distances.
-
Health and social affairs
The risk of accidents is reduced by the creation and application of comprehensive health and safety documents. They also help to maintain staff performance.
-
Quality of the construction work
Before the order is placed, material declaration lists are used to check whether building materials and components comply with the recognized rules of technology and the contractual agreements. A target/actual comparison of the delivered building materials is carried out by means of incoming goods inspection. Before and during the execution of construction work, compliance with technical regulations is documented using quality inspection plans.
-
Waste management
An effective waste management system will be set up for the project. Targeted waste sorting and separation will take place on the construction site. This ensures that the resulting construction waste is properly disposed of and/or recycled.
