Shurgard Self-Storage, LE
Fasanenweg 16 site in Leinfelden-Echterdingen
A Shurgard self-storage building is being built on the Fasaneweg 16 site in Leinfelden-Echterdingen .
After completion, the building will be used to store various types of greenery for private households and commercial operations.
The supporting structure consists of reinforced concrete columns and reinforced concrete ceilings. The roof structure is designed as a reinforced concrete roof with a 0° slope as a waterproof construction. The column position follows the main grid of 6.00 m. Bracing is provided by the stairwells and the elevator core. The wall cladding is made of steel sandwich panels.
The project is aiming for DGNB "Sustainable Building Site" certification from the German Sustainable Building Council.

Certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB)
Ed. Züblin AG is pursuing several goals with this project: A sustainable construction site organization, the conservation of resources as well as the minimization of emissions, responsibility for the health and well-being of the builders, the cultivation of good neighbourliness and, of course, high-quality construction. For this, Ed. Züblin AG was the first company to be recognized by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Selected measures in the project
-
Finished parts
The extensive use of prefabricated parts (filigree slabs, cavity walls, parapets, columns, beams and stairs) means that a shorter construction time can be achieved. The volume of waste is also reduced thanks to the prefabricated orders.
-
Use of energy-efficient construction machinery
It is planned that all motorized equipment and machinery used on the construction site, e.g. earthmoving equipment, compressors, etc., with an output of over 75 kW will be documented and the EU level (energy efficiency class/EEK) they meet will be recorded to ensure that the most energy-efficient construction machinery possible is used.
-
Regional companies and suppliers
Where possible, mainly regional companies and suppliers are used in order to reduce transportation and working distances.
-
Health and social affairs
The risk of accidents is reduced by the creation and application of comprehensive health and safety documents. They also help to maintain staff performance.
-
Waste management
An effective waste management system will be set up for the project. Targeted waste sorting and separation will take place on the construction site. This ensures that the resulting construction waste is properly disposed of and/or recycled.
