New construction of the Ibbenbüren mine water channel

The construction of the mine water channel with a total length of approx. 7,400 m to collect the rising mine water and feed it to the water treatment system after the coal/anthracite extraction in the Ibbenbüren mine has been completed comprises the 2 TBM drives of 3,870 m (east) and 3,230 m (west) each as well as a 280 m long tunnel using the cut-and-cover method.

Drainage via the mine water channel is carried out through openings in the segment lining, so that the drained mine water is collected in a prefabricated invert channel and then directed from east to west into the drainage channel towards the Gravenhorst processing plant.

In areas where drainage is required, the two drives are backfilled with pearl gravel as an annular gap. In areas where mine water drainage is not required, the annular gap is filled with cement mortar.
