New Isenbrücke bridge
On behalf of the Freising State Building Authority, ZÜBLIN realized the construction of a temporary bridge, the demolition of the existing bridge over the Isen and the subsequent new construction.
The temporary bridge, which is open to pedestrians and cyclists, was primarily used as a safety measure and was completed before demolition began in May 2022. Following the successful demolition of the old bridge, the foundation was built in the riverbed within a watertight sheet pile box with solid chords. The reinforcement of the foundation was welded to the sheet pile box. After completion of the pier, the sheet piling on the river bed was burned off under water with the help of industrial divers.
The new Isen Bridge extends over a length of 33.45 meters (previously 27 meters) and is 12.10 meters wide between the railings (previously 10 meters). It was widened due to the redesign of the footpaths and cycle paths along the B15 as part of this construction project. Züblin carried out all the sewer, paving and asphalt work over a distance of around 450 meters.
ZÜBLIN successfully mastered the challenges of the project. A 400-ton truck-mounted crane was used to install a total of 14 precast concrete elements for the Isen Bridge. Installation began on the north side with seven precast elements and continued the following day on the south side. Particular precision and millimetre accuracy were required when placing the precast elements over the central pillar, as the connecting reinforcement of the precast elements had to be precisely coordinated with that of the pillar.
Once the work was completed, the new Isen Bridge was opened to traffic on the B15 in June 2023.
