Orafol Hall 11

A highly complex hall complex was built in two construction phases on the company premises in Oranienburg, which not only offers production areas for self-reflective adhesive films, but also integrates storage, technical and social areas. The combination of innovative construction methods, functional planning and architectural quality makes this project a best-practice example for large-scale industrial projects.

The construction project is located in Oranienburg, directly adjacent to Orafolstrasse on the premises of Orafol Europe GmbH. The aim was to construct a modern production hall for the manufacture of self-reflective adhesive films as well as additional areas for technology, storage and employees. The project was implemented in two construction phases, which together form a monolithic hall structure.

First construction phase - production hall with head building

The first construction phase comprised the new construction of the production hall (Hall 11) with a gross floor area of around 8,425 m² on two levels. At its heart are two large production rooms, which are operated as clean rooms with an overpressure of 25 mbar. These are supplemented by tank storage, delivery zones and technical and storage rooms on the first floor. The upper floor of the head-end building contains areas for employees such as changing rooms, recreation rooms, kitchenettes and sanitary facilities as well as rooms for simple laboratory activities.

The construction is mainly based on prefabricated reinforced concrete elements, while the head structure was made of in-situ concrete. The foundations were laid using 82 sleeve foundations on which prefabricated columns up to 13 m long were mounted. Roof trusses with a length of up to 24 m span between the columns. The façade combines trapezoidal sheet metal on insulating cassettes with a clinker brick façade - a mix that combines functionality and architectural quality.

Second construction phase - extension and new levels

The second construction phase added a further 10,587 m² of gross floor area to the hall on three levels. In addition to additional production and storage areas, common rooms and sanitary facilities were integrated for employees. An office clasp on the east façade and a technical level at the level of the first construction phase ensure optimal work processes. Vertical access is provided by four goods elevators, four emergency staircases and a central staircase. Roller shutters, dock levellers and escape doors ensure flexible use and safe logistics.

Architecturally, the extension blends in seamlessly with the first construction phase. The continuous façade line creates the impression of a monolithic hall body, although the hall is free-standing on three sides.

A central focus was on the tightness of the clean rooms, which are essential for production under clean room conditions. The combination of prefabricated construction, in-situ concrete and precise execution ensures that the high technical requirements are met.
