Renovation of the Leuze tunnel
The construction of a new 3rd tube in the Leuzetunnel and the reconstruction of the B10/B14 junction near the Wilhelma were taken as an opportunity to renovate the two existing tubes in the direction of Esslingen and Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt.
The renovation measures were carried out with half of the tunnel closed. After demolition of the walkways, concrete removal was planned on the outer and middle walls using ultra-high-pressure water jets at a depth of between 2 and 15 centimetres, depending on the chloride concentration. The existing and partially damaged existing reinforcement was supplemented with additional bonded anchors and reinforcement mats. The reinforcement was embedded using a shotcrete application. The concrete cover in the base area was also increased accordingly to ensure the durability of the structure.
