adidas ARENA World of Sports

Adidas AG has expanded its "World of Sports" corporate campus in Herzogenaurach with the new company headquarters. The building not only impresses with its shape and construction method, it is also certified according to the "LEED" Gold Standard of the U.S. Green Building Council for sustainable design and was awarded the 2019 German Steel Construction Engineering Prize.

The foundation of the building consists of a combination of a floor slab and an additional pile foundation under the 19 supports of the inclined columns. Once the floor slab and core had been constructed, the assembly of the upper storeys began on almost 200 auxiliary steel supports directly above the ground.

Once the basic structure had been assembled and braced, the upper storeys 1-3 were raised on V-shaped supports approx. 13 m above the ground in a special lifting process. This involved pressing approx. 12,500 tons of weight approx. 11 m into the air. Then 67 composite columns were installed in an inclined position under the construction resting on presses. The building was then set down on the columns. The first floor is an independent reinforced concrete structure, which was then constructed under the steel structure.
