The Bertolt Brecht School Centre in Nuremberg is one of the largest and most modern school complexes in the region for around 1,800 pupils. As general contractor, ZÜBLIN relied on sustainable energy concepts, digital processes and LEAN.construction for a timely and efficient realisation.
A new building combines secondary school, intermediate school and grammar school in four building blocks
Municipal grammar school, municipal secondary school and state secondary school - around 1,800 pupils learn in the most modern school complex in the region, which is the largest in the region at over 38,000 m2 in total. As general contractor, ZÜBLIN was responsible for the planning and construction of the Bertolt Brecht School.
The school centre consists of a three-storey, monolithic complex with four staggered building blocks, a 7-court sports hall and spacious, green outdoor facilities.
Sustainability was and is the focus during construction and also during subsequent operation: heating and cooling is largely provided by environmentally friendly geothermal energy, which is harnessed via more than 100 geothermal probes drilled to a depth of around 100 m. The electrical energy requirements are met by eco-friendly geothermal systems. The electrical energy requirements are covered by green electricity and a photovoltaic system on the roof of the sports hall.
In order to realise the complex project in just three years, ZÜBLIN relied on efficient construction processes with LEAN.Construction in addition to close partnership-based cooperation with the client. The early involvement of ZÜBLIN enabled construction costs and construction time to be optimised. A comprehensive cooperation and remuneration model, agile and lean construction process planning and digital quality assurance ensured that the new building was completed efficiently, on time and on budget.
