Cologne city center integrated comprehensive school (IGIS)
As general contractor, ZÜBLIN is building the extension to IGIS in a central location. With a new gymnasium, administration wing and multifunctional canteen/hall, a space for education is being created with the help of a well thought-out logistics concept while the school continues to operate.
Extension for the integrated comprehensive school in Cologne city center
In January 2021, Ed. Züblin AG, Cologne division, was awarded the contract to carry out the general contractor services for the construction of the extension to the Integrierte Gesamtschule Innenstadt (IGIS) in Frankstraße in Cologne's city center.
In addition to the execution of the implementation planning, the construction project included a preliminary demolition measure, an interim provision of sanitary facilities and the construction of the extension as a general contractor service. The demolition work included the demolition of the existing gymnasium and the corresponding changing rooms.
A gymnasium, including the associated ancillary rooms in the basement and first floor, an administration wing on the second floor and a warm-up kitchen and canteen on the second floor were built for the extension. The canteen is also used as an auditorium for events. The construction work was carried out during regular school operations. A sophisticated logistics concept was drawn up accordingly.
