FAIR Darmstadt

Construction logistics for top international research

The FAIR facility ("Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research") in Darmstadt is one of the largest research centers in the world. On an area of around 150,000 m², 25 highly complex structures are being built, including an underground accelerator ring tunnel with a circumference of 1,100 meters, experimental stations and supply facilities. The aim is to create conditions in the laboratory that are otherwise only found in the universe - from the interior of planets to stellar explosions.

We are handling the construction logistics for this international mega-project. The dimensions are enormous: millions of cubic meters of earth are being moved, hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of concrete are being poured and tens of thousands of tons of steel are being used. Our task is to manage the complex material flows and ensure that the construction work runs smoothly.

Our scope of services in the field of construction logistics

  • Access management and company paramedics on site
  • Installation and operation of container facilities
  • Security, site fences and gates
  • Traffic routing and BE area management
  • Disposal of materials and waste on the construction site routes
  • Construction hoists, scaffolding work and core drilling
  • Building cleaning and winter services

The large number of parallel processes is particularly challenging: Structural, civil and structural engineering must be closely coordinated with the scientific infrastructure. Through precise coordination, ongoing adjustments and efficient processes, we are helping to ensure that FAIR is a place where the "universe in the laboratory" can be explored.
